The Virgin Active Beginner’s Guide to Walking Jogging and Running
About The Book:
The intention of this book is to give advice and a structured programme to those who would like to start walking, jogging or running. The objective is to get you to the stage where you can run for 20-40 minutes a minimum of three times a week, without strain, and enjoy it!
It may lead you to participate in some form of competitive events such as the occasional fun run or race walk, but these would be incidental as anything else would suggest that your exercise is for reasons other than health.
While this book is particularly aimed at the health or fun runner, established runners may also find the advice of interest and a useful reminder of the basic principles as these are the same, even if your goal is to run much longer distances. They can be used to develop your next training schedule.
The focus of this book is towards exercise for health, social, enjoyment and weight-loss reasons, and not on being competitive.
